Since 2002, the World Poker Tour is widely acclaimed as pioneering an innovative combination of audiovisual entertainment and poker. Notable figures associated with it include some of the greatest names in poker as well as developing innovative hole card cameras which are now commonly seen on television shows.
WPT schedule offers numerous Main Events featuring No-Limit Texas Hold’em tournaments culminating in TV final tables, with buy-ins ranging from $3,000 to $10,000 for these tournaments.
The World Series of Poker
The World Poker Tour (WPT) is one of the world’s best-known tournament circuits, making its mark on poker as an engaging mainstream sport that transcends societal barriers and engages audiences worldwide.
The World Poker Tour (WPT) organizes and hosts international poker tournaments at prominent casinos around the globe. Furthermore, its television show has reached over 150 countries globally.
WPT was launched in 2002 in the US by attorney and television producer Steven Lipscomb with the goal of featuring premier poker players at prestigious casino venues. Lipscomb achieved his vision through using hole card cameras that allow viewers to see each player’s hidden cards during games, adding new dimensions of excitement for commentators as they discussed each game more insightfully and thoroughly. Over time, WPT has continued its evolution, adding features and branching out into digital realm through ClubWPT.
The European Poker Tour
The European Poker Tour is Europe’s premiere poker tournament series, having launched back in 2004 to capitalize on Texas Hold’em’s explosive popularity. Events take place all across Europe with Barcelona being home for each EPT Grand Final since its start.
Over its history, the EPT has seen plenty of high drama. Not only have events unfolded at its tables but also off them; for instance during EPT Berlin it was robbed by armed gangsters who made off with an undisclosed sum of cash.
The EPT also raises funds for non-profit organizations through its Power Path charity program, using its poker brand name and public interest in supporting charitable causes that matter most. Events on the European Poker Tour are open to anyone able to afford the buy-in price; PokerStars – title sponsor of the European Poker Tour – offers satellite tournaments that cost as little as $2.22 and allow access.
The Celebrity Poker Tour
The Celebrity Poker Tour (CPT) is an acclaimed tournament series on PokerGO that draws its participants from celebrities, athletes and content creators – providing an engaging introduction to poker that further fuels its development as an international phenomenon.
In its inaugural edition, this event brought together celebrity actors, business leaders and sports stars – from actor/activist Jaden Smith to business mogul Joey Ingram as well as former NBA stars Mario Chalmers and Mike Bibby as well as rising poker player Alexandra Botez who outwitted them all and won.
The second edition of the event took place as part of Entertainment Community Fund’s Lights! Camera! Ante Up! fundraising campaign. Featured participants included actors Reggie Austin (Pretty Little Liars, Agent Carter), actress Alexis Floyd (Inventing Anna Grey’s Anatomy), Mekhi Phifer (8 Mile), with poker pro/social media influencer Marie Ho being named winner.
